I'm a 20-something-year-old Japanese interpreter who aspires to become an author. Interests include writing, drawing, video games, foreign languages (German and Japanese), and piano. Subjects I never shut up about include children's literature, Disney movies, and fairy tales.

Beware of proper grammar, pun-tastic word play, pedanticalness, and neologisms.

Also, Pluto is still a planet.

Hey guys.

I already said everything in the image up there, but just to expand a little:

It was really hard to come to this decision. It was also really hard to force myself to finish this last chapter.

Echo is my brain-child, and I love it just as much as I did 10 years ago when I made the first fateful, random sketch that grew into so much more. We haven't come anywhere close to all the twists and turns of this story that make me care for it so much.

But I also have to take a step back and recognize that my persistence isn't paying off. My struggle to keep up with weekly pages (the only way I could finish this story before I die) is keeping me from doing other important (and more attainable) things in both my personal and creative life.

Did you know I'm writing a book? I'm five years and 300-or-so pages into it, and the end is in sight. But the end keeps getting farther and farther away as I keep chipping away at Echo instead.

Did you know I'm a much better writer than artist? My book is where my skills and attention are needed right now. I need to make it work.

So, for now, I need to put Echo on the shelf. As much as it kills me to do so.

Like I mentioned, I'll still be online and posting art, so you can follow me at: berowake.tumblr.com. Maybe you'll see some familiar faces there from time to time.

I don't know if or when I'll be able to return to Echo. But I hope I'll have another avenue for sharing my stories someday.

Thanks for reading all these years. See you around!

@Birdz555: I am torn between saying "Be my guest!" and "Oh lord, don't look at the old art!" haha.

And thank you! I was really looking forward to reaching this milestone.

They'll be expecting us.
...But not the Spanish Inquisition!
Nobody expects that. Or the girl from the prologue. ;)

And that's a wrap for this chapter! Thanks for reading.

@Birdz555: Dun dun dun, indeed.

So am I. :)

Do we need to let them know we're coming?
For someone who hates backgrounds, I sure do have way too much fun drawing trees...

Only one page left in the chapter! It is already complete and will go up next Monday. :) Thanks for reading!

@Birdz555: He he he. Gotta appreciate her ingenuity.

And thank you!

Yes.
Almost forgot to post this, haha...

Sorry for the delays. I'm hunkering down in study mode for the next two months, so I won't have a lot of time for comicking. :/ Really close to the end of the chapter, though!

@Birdz555: First train ride and first carriage ride in the same day! Best day ever.

Well, fortunately for me, it turns out there actually aren't as many backgrounds next page. :) It's the following one that I'm going to hate, haha. But thanks in advance for your appreciation!

Yes, Arial.
So apparently pages with backgrounds take a long time to do?? Good thing I avoid them like the plague.

The next few pages are also kind of involved art-wise, though, so like your friendly neighborhood airport, expect delays.

No travel or new laptop purchases this time to get in the way, though, so let's see if I can make it in two weeks this time!

@Birdz555: Nice! Hope you had fun. :D

Haha--Luke's line was actually added in while I was drawing. As a fellow night owl, I want to sympathize, but as someone who has to wake up at 5:30 for work every morning, I have forgotten the meaning of sympathy. 8)

Define "early."
The conversation and the chapter start coming to a close...

Next page should be up in two weeks!

@Birdz555: Thank you! True story, Luke was originally supposed to be very reserved with his expressions. So glad I ignored my past self. Silly face equality for all!

It's not that exciting.
Wow, Arial, you may have been sheltered in one house your entire life, but look at all the traveling you get to do now that your life was destroyed! What a lucky kid.

Next page will go up in two weeks! Thanks for reading. :)

@Birdz555: He's a sweetie. :)

Yup! A little happy vampire family. :) Nikita and Nadia aren't related to Dmitri at all, but they are definitely his kids now (or, they have been for about a century, now).

In one way or another.
Yup, even the kiddos are vampires. Dmitri found them that way and took them in.

Next page will go up in two weeks (probably)! Thanks for reading.

@Birdz555: Yyyyup. Eleanore was actually the last, and she still has not forgiven him. :) (She's made peace with it, but Seymour automatically loses every argument they will ever have for all eternity.)

Ah, if we count manga, then I think there might have been one series with a background character or two. Otherwise, my only media exposure to vampires has been Buffy/Angel. :)

@Birdz555: Yup. He wasn't a super awesome dude. Not evil, but not awesome.

Also, now that you mention it, I don't think I've actually read any books with a vampire character in them. Huh.

Wise?
Talk talk talk.

Sorry updates have gotten sporadic! I'll try to have another page in 2 weeks. Thanks for sticking around!

What a monster.
Uh oh, I sense more talking.

See you in two weeks!
