Yep.
Another year, another page. Life gets crazy, and that's exactly why I haven't made an attempt to advertise this comic yet. Those of you who wandered here on your own--I'm so happy you're here, and I'm so sorry there is no such thing as an update schedule!
In other news, I graduated and am now at SCAD getting and MFA in Illustration. Woohoo! I plan to take some sequential art classes here--hopefully that will improve the quality of the work if not my inability to make commitments. I HAVE been working on this, just not in a "making page progress" kind of way. I'm so excited about everything I know is coming it's hard to focus on the beginning stuff. I'm sure you fellow cartoonists/writers know how it is!
Hope you like the page, hope the next one doesn't take so long to happen. :)

The day obviously continued after that, but the only really interesting thing that happened was that we explained to my dad what the Zombocalypse was and he told us how he would survive it.

Hey, oh fellow lover of ice cream, thanks! :) Its in constant flux, unfortunately.
Typical Blacksburg week--I think I could make a joke about the weather every week (for the newspaper) and people would eat it up.

This is one of those comic ideas where it's like a softball was lobbed at you as gently as would be tossed to someone trying to catch with their teeth.

There it is.
Wow. Yeah. Definitely took my time with getting to the next page!
I wish I could say the next page will be posted snappily, but I have to be honest. I am in the midst of applications for grad programs in ethology and zoology, and that on top of school has a lot of my attention/focus/stress right now. I never updated this thing regularly, but 3 months between updates seems pretty yucky. I apologize for that, and the fact that the next page may be a longish time away too.
I also apologize (sort of) for the apparent coloring/style change. I did this all in PS from the basic page sketch, and I tried very very hard 1) not to be lazy with the backgrounds and coloring and 2) to establish an actual atmosphere (as opposed to generic ":|" woods). That's the whole point of comics, anyway, right? I'm telling you a story, and I want my art to pull you into it as much as the writing/characters. I don't know if I succeeded with either of my goals for this (I see sloppiness even as I look at it now) but I feel like it's a step up at least from the somewhat monotone pages I've been posting so far.

Hey y'all!
This page happened quickly because I started working on it before the last one (which I still kind of hate) was finished. I'm trying to find a coloring method that a)is easy enough that I can do it without pouring double digits worth of hours into a single page and b) I like the look of. I may (possibly, potentially) be getting there--I'm relatively pleased with this page, particularly with the colors on the characters, but that smoke... mmnf. I did say this whole thing would be a learning experience for me.
Also not sure why I decided to make Chief's design so headdeskingly obnoxious.
I'm in finals week, so it may be awhile again before another page. I'm also taking Computer Illustration next quarter, which is essentially Photoshop for dummies (perfect for me!), so that bodes well for the art side of this comic.
Back to contemporary art final paper... hope y'all like this page! :)
