Hey guys, Vert here.

I'm a 25 year old medical intern studying to become an eye doctor. I play guitar and draw comics in my free time.

If you are an aspiring comic artist, you may want to check out my tutorials on deviantart (verticalfish.deviantart.com under the tutorials folder in my gallery). I learned all of the techniques I know from experimentation and the need to utilize a short amount of time to draw as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Enjoy!

@Flare
I'm not dead. Refer to my latest dA journal entry. I'm working on Hinata, and something big regarding it
@Frenchie
Hey. I know earlier I said I would have pages out. I'm in the middle of a major re-write of the script for the next volume, and to be honest, I am thinking of postponing work on TSB until I finish this current arc of Hinata. I am in a residency program which does not allow me much time nowadays, and although I wish there were more than one of me, there's only so much I can get done with the single lackluster pair of hands I possess.

It may be a while, but I want everyone to know I have things planned for this series, and even though it has been on hiatus for what feels like forever, it is by no means done.

Bigger Pages!
I'm playing around with the default page size I use. You may notice I use a larger size for pages in my other comic, Ashes. The idea behind that was because there is a lot more detail in the backgrounds and linearts for Ashes pages. I'm also going to transition Hinata pages to this new size. Let me know if you like the bigger/smaller sizes. The bigger size is a also better because the boring exposition-filled parts can be finished faster.
It's been a while guys...

3 years to be exact. Maybe even more. While TSB is still the longest series I have to date, Hinata has been catching up and there are a few other titles that I'm working on slowly, but surely. Lots of people have asked when the hiatus for TSB is going to end, and I haven't really promised anything, because I haven't had a chance to solidify the script for the next volume. But the story is there, and I've been feeling nostalgic lately, and it's about damn time I sat down and worked on it.

Hinata will continue, and you may see a few Ashes updates here and there. You can expect some TSB updates as well in the coming months.

Sorry for the wait.

@BURSTTHROUGH
No, there are poisonous bases in Soranomachi as well. The issue is the ability to turn the poison "off", which most of them could do, but Koukyuu can't, which makes them particularly dangerous.
@BURSTTHROUGH
Nope, just on a long hiatus
When writing, I split the Shinsakana City Arc into two distinct halves, each about 250~ pages long. The first half was the setup, and may have read a little slow at times but I hope you enjoyed it! Now that we've dived into the Shinsakana City Arc far enough, we'll start part 2, which is a non-stop action packed adrenaline rush that will have you gripping your seat until the very last chapter!

Thanks for reading thus far as always, and enjoy part 2!

Sorry for the late reply.

They do have markings, but not in any spot you can see.

It's not too unreasonable...
Snake venoms are usually either neurotoxin or hemotoxin, protein/peptide compounds. Since they are very similar, its pretty easy to come up with a polyvalent antivenin that works for them (which is what they used in the Hebi arc).

It's a much different matter to make a polyvalent antivenin for every poisonious fish, mollusc, algae, amphibian, and reptile in the sea - to the point of being impractical.

But then again, this arc has to do with Shinko's origins. So you can bet your ass there'll be poison involved XD
@PRINCESS_LOM
I use a combination of Paint Tool SAI for lineart & shading & BG, and then Photoshop CS for text & blur & other effects.
@PRINCESS_LOM
Thanks! Hope you'll follow along :D

@HELIUMSQUID
I used to just draw this half-assed squiggle for the inner ear, but one day I forced myself to look at the real anatomy of the auricle and external auditory meatus, helices/antihelices, & tragus to figure out the simplest way to draw the damn thing.
@IRON
Yup :D
Took a long time, but it saves a lot of time when I have to do BGs for the comic.
Shinsakana City Map
I noticed some people may be confused about the layout of the city, so I took an aerial shot just for clarification, going forward.
