Hey guys, Vert here.

I'm an eye surgeon. I play guitar and draw comics in my free time.

If you are an aspiring comic artist, you may want to check out my tutorials on deviantart (verticalfish.deviantart.com under the tutorials folder in my gallery). I learned all of the techniques I know from experimentation and the need to utilize a short amount of time to draw as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Enjoy!

@SHAEDE THE BLACK EEVEE
It will become more apparent in the arc after this one. Rikuto is a bastard child, son of the king of Nekodaitoshi and the leader of the Kuroneko shinobi, who live in the dark woods outside the city. His father's side of the family (in Nekodaitoshi) was wiped out. Mother's side was unaffected.

@HeliumSquid
Good point - she was healed to the point of being asleep, but has curiously not woken up since then, no matter what they've tried. Still, her vitals are fine and she can breathe on her own, which is why she's not on a respirator like the other two. More on that later.
All right guys, you've waited long enough!

Hey guys. This image is so damn big that I can't upload a high quality version here.
If you wanna see it in HQ, check this out: http://fav.me/dczcapa
OK, just one character page left, then coloring the cover this weekend probably, and we can start the arc up!

The kanji on his chest says "Fearless", btw.
Writing!
Hey guys.
I'm making a lot of headway in the script for the Mitsubachi arc. It's gonna be EPIC! Can't wait to get started, just a few more weeks of writing.
More color promos coming out, now we're doing the 3 idenshigata that you met in the beginning of the last arc - Hana, Kotaro, and Haru. They themselves are all really strong, all part of the East Tenjuu.

Yeah, I know. They acted like assholes during the last arc. But in their defense, they had reasons for doing so. They also have a rich backstory that I'm going to get into in this arc.

Ack! So much to do!
Hey guys.
Sorry for being intermittently MIA - my medical training has been a bear lately; I've even lost weight from not being able to eat since its been so busy.
Rest assured, I'm working on the new arc and more stuff will be coming soon!
Now would be a good time to tell you the next 3 arcs in my mind are 3 parts of a giant mega-arc, and Ichigo has quite a bit to do with the last arm of that 3 arc series we are going to be embarking into. He'll have a crucial role in the coming arc too.
Reika is not necessarily a new character, as she's shown up back at the beginning of the previous arc.
Halgene messes up a lot of stuff, and Kuromisaki is basically a hodge-podge of the survivors of Halgene's experiments and massacres.
Just wrote the backstory for this guy, and it's a real tear-jerker.
He's going to be pretty important in this arc, but even moreso for the nekodaitoshi arc.

His story has a lot of interplay with Rikuto's, for obvious reasons.
Working on some character pages.
Gearing up for the 3rd arc!

@TJS, Thanks
Thank you very much for your readership. It is high praise for me whenever I hear that someone has enjoyed my work enough to reread it. Rest assured, there are many more arcs of the story I am planning ahead and although, way back when, I decided that I would spend a little more time on other titles, I have grown quite attached to this one. So I plan to keep working on it. The new arc is being written right now and you can expect either no break at all or just a short time in between the end of this chapter and the start of the next.

That being said, hold on to your pants, cause this chapter isn't over yet!

@Awriter
Tell me about it... The whole shinsakana arc which took me like 4+ years to write details the events of a single day! I wish I had a crew of people to help me but it just little old me, with a pretty demanding full time job..

Karasu's Tags
@BananaUhl:
@dmr11:
This is true, those do look like curse tags, however they do not have anything to do with blocking out spirits.
The tags say "シアン化物"...

Which I will leave up to you to translate and interpret XD

@Flare
I'm not dead. Refer to my latest dA journal entry. I'm working on Hinata, and something big regarding it
@Frenchie
Hey. I know earlier I said I would have pages out. I'm in the middle of a major re-write of the script for the next volume, and to be honest, I am thinking of postponing work on TSB until I finish this current arc of Hinata. I am in a residency program which does not allow me much time nowadays, and although I wish there were more than one of me, there's only so much I can get done with the single lackluster pair of hands I possess.

It may be a while, but I want everyone to know I have things planned for this series, and even though it has been on hiatus for what feels like forever, it is by no means done.

Bigger Pages!
I'm playing around with the default page size I use. You may notice I use a larger size for pages in my other comic, Ashes. The idea behind that was because there is a lot more detail in the backgrounds and linearts for Ashes pages. I'm also going to transition Hinata pages to this new size. Let me know if you like the bigger/smaller sizes. The bigger size is a also better because the boring exposition-filled parts can be finished faster.
It's been a while guys...

3 years to be exact. Maybe even more. While TSB is still the longest series I have to date, Hinata has been catching up and there are a few other titles that I'm working on slowly, but surely. Lots of people have asked when the hiatus for TSB is going to end, and I haven't really promised anything, because I haven't had a chance to solidify the script for the next volume. But the story is there, and I've been feeling nostalgic lately, and it's about damn time I sat down and worked on it.

Hinata will continue, and you may see a few Ashes updates here and there. You can expect some TSB updates as well in the coming months.

Sorry for the wait.

@BURSTTHROUGH
No, there are poisonous bases in Soranomachi as well. The issue is the ability to turn the poison "off", which most of them could do, but Koukyuu can't, which makes them particularly dangerous.
@BURSTTHROUGH
Nope, just on a long hiatus
