I think it might be the ads, but I continuously have my anti-virus block various parts of the sites like this:

Spoiler! :

For multiple pages as well. Not just my favorites.

Hi, I'm a new user of Smackjeeves but recently as I was browsing the most popular comics (before I made an account,) my desktop got attacked by a nasty virus or spyware thing that installed "Win 7 Antispyware Unregistered Version" on my computer. I believe it might have come from an ad on Smackjeeves but unfortunately whatever it was immediately closed my internet browser so I couldn't get a screencap of it. I'm not positive it came from Smackjeeves, and it may have come from Facebook for all I know, but I know that I would like people to beware of this problem so they don't get attacked like I did ): It even got through my anti-virus and shut down my task manager! So please, be careful and hopefully no one else has had this problem but I thought I would warn you. My apologies for being so vague in my description of the ad but I wasn't able to glean much information about it. I hope it's still possible to check if this problem potentially came from here so it can be taken care of? I also apologize for being so terribly long-winded @.@

What do you mean by "email ads"?
If you're talking about the fact that these ads-as-comments are present at all, then the only way to get rid of them is to get a paid subscription for your webcomic (also, they don't show up if you're logged in). These ads sare needed to support SJ and keep free accounts available, which is why the only way to get rid of them is to pay. This thread specifically is for reporting ads that are actually harmful, such as virus ads, pop-overs, etc.

I do have a paid subscription. I thought maybe it expired, so I renewed it, but they're still there. I came to this thread through the help section, but if this isn't the appropriate place, what is?

This thread is specifically for ads that are appearing where they should, but are malicious/annoying/adult, etc.

If your problem is that ads are showing up where they shouldn't be, you should make a new thread in the Bugs & Glitcches forum. However... if the comic you're talking about is the one in your profile, then I don't think there's a problem with the ads. That comic does not have a paid subscription. Are you sure you renewed it? Perhaps the payment hasn't gone through yet and it hasn't been assigned yet? I'm not sure how long it usually takes.

Inappropriate adverts

Postby SRQ » June 7th, 2012, 7:43 am

I am not a prude... but I am also not really sure that some of the adverts I've been seeing lately are totally appropriate given the content of the website.

I mean, it was bad enough when topless soldiers were appearing in this box but now "date a slag" websites?

Whaaaat?

See attached file for screen cap.

We have a thread in Bugs & Glitches especially for these kinds of ads: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=5

If you want, I can merge this thread with it.

I keep getting this highly suspicious full screen pop-up that opens in a new tab. I could swear I haven't actually clicked any ads, but when I navigate to or refresh www.smackjeeves.com, I occasionally get this tab with a swimsuit girl saying "get paid to date". When I frantically try to X out of the tab, Chrome opens this text window that asks "Are you sure you want to navigate away form this page? Yes No" and won't let me do anything until I click one of the two. It started to download some file that I quickly stopped. This happened last week on the other computer and three times tonight on this machine. In my haste to close out, I haven't been able to get a screenshot, despite refreshing the site maybe 50 times. I disabled javascript in the chrome, and it still appeared, without the browser-jacking text box.

I do remember part of the url was lasstchanceoffer(dot)com .

There may not be enough useful information here, but hopefully if other users see this ad, they can fill in the blanks.

I sent out an email recently but just found that there's a forum discussing glitches on smackjeeves.
I'll mention what I said in the email here as well, since this seems to be the most appropriate place to mention it:
I have been getting site redirects when I click on a webcomic's profile and when clicking on the begin reading/latest page buttons. The site opens in the same window and it isn't the same site that comes up. I don't remember, but this happened to me earlier today as well... I'm very concerned if I have a virus or there's something going on with smackjeeves. :/
The random site situation happened a few times today, the latest one being when I clicked on the It's A Hard Life comic yet when I went back to click on the actual comic again, it opened correctly without the random site link. It seems that this random redirect link issue seems to be unpredictable.

The link that keeps coming up is something about Doctor OzMiracle Anti-aging something... (I'm viewing the labels on my history, but I really don't want to keep going on that site, even if it is just to find out the full name of it's tab label. :/
Lenore.mgz is part of the URL of this random website redirect. Everything was working fine after making my previous post on this thread until now. And after getting the redirect, it somehow had me logged out of the smackjeeves site and I had to sign in again. This time it came up when I went to click from the cover page to the next page on a Webcomic.
I have been thinking of posting my comic on smackjeeves, but after seeing all these glitch issues that other users have been having... I'm not so sure now. :/
The Webcomic that this random redirect was Rapturous Arcane, a comic that I am familiar with reading on other sites.

As I was typing this, I made a screenshot of the random redirect website, which is really a scam because I have heard that doctor oz on his show mentioning not to open emails or go on sites mentioning him like this with selling stuff. He said this at the end of every episode, from what I have seen of his show.

.... Ok, I don't know how to put a screenshot in the post, but here's the link to this random scam site: (Do not click)

I found a site that describe the same issue and site that I'm having trouble with. Maybe this will help solve the issue? It's a forum of people talking about this site redirect:
