Kermit Customisation Problems

Postby RitualTeeth » October 6th, 2019, 11:11 am

Hi there, I'm having problems with the Kermit theme.
I'm trying to change the colour of the background and sidebar options,

I've tried this:
http://faq.smackjeeves.com/faq-basiccoding/#BC-CTC-101

But it removes the sidebar and distorts the page.
Any help would be really appreciated!

That FAQ is quite old and most of the templates have been changed significantly since. In addition, different templates are structured in different ways (since most are user-contributed rather than being written by one person), and sometimes require different approaches to tweaks.

Kermit's one of the weirder layouts, and has a particularly unreadable CSS style ):

To change the sidebar background colour, find this line in Overall Layout:
Code: Select all
#left {left:0; background:#000;}

Replace the #000 with your colour of choice.

To change the button colours, find this mess in Overall Layout:
Code: Select all
   .tabs li a {display:block; width:75px; height:26px; text-decoration:none; background: #090; font-size:12px; text-decoration:none; color:#fff; font-family:verdana; line-height:24px; text-indent:16px; -moz-border-radius: 6px; -webkit-border-radius: 6px;}

   .tabs li a:hover {background: #fff; color:#050;}

   .tabs li a.selected, .tabs li a.selected:hover {background: #fff; color:#000;}

Replace the #090 with your desired default background colour for the buttons. Replace the #fff in the second bit to change the hover colour, and in the third bit to change the "selected" colour (only really visible on the homepage I think).

To change the main part's white background color, find this code in Overall Layout:
Code: Select all
#right {left:8%; background:#fff;}

Replace the #fff with your desired background colour.

Great :D It didn't even occur to me that you'd want to do that, oops. CSS is harder to read when it's all in one line like that, so I'm glad you found the relevant code!
