Template Request? Can pay if needed (Paypal)

Postby Foxblaze » February 16th, 2015, 11:19 am

So this is the cover page of my webcomic here http://umts.smackjeeves.com/comics/1919915/cover-page/

As you can see the page style is really lackluster, I've had it since I first began on here and now I hate it. I've been trying to tinker with some HTML coding for the extra pages (though the main page style interrupts it, and I can't figure out how to make the 'buttons' I added show the image on the page there instead of leading you to the image source on the web.... Maybe a dropdown code is what I'm looking for? But I digress.) but no matter how much I tinker with the extra pages, looking at that page style irritates me. I know some people put a lot of work into page designing, and if they require payment I can probably do that as long as it's reasonable, though atm I think I have less than $10 in my Paypal so you will have to give me a chance to transfer money into it.

As far as how I want it to look, I generally just want something Pokemon Mystery Dungeon themed, like maybe Time Gears beside the Page Links, background of the Treeshroud Forest's Altar of Time behind the comic page maybe, I don't really know, I just want something better than what I have now (I also notice people can change the next/previous button images, but I don't know how to do that if someone could tell me how I would greatly appreciate it!)

Please let me know if you can help me out! o3o

I'm not sure I understand your post correctly, so please forgive me if my response is off-topic.

To make an image show up on the page instead of just making a link to it, the code is
Code: Select all
<img src="imageURLhere" alt="" />

Since your profile images are pretty big, you might want to make separate extra pages for each one (which means you'd have to hard-code the Menu part of your template, so that the profile pages aren't listed in the menu directly). Linking to them as images is fine too, though if you choose to do that, you should make it clear on the extra page that they're links.
You could also make what's called "an accordion", which requires some JavaScript, which will expand one section (with an image in it) at a time. It can make the page look nice, but it doesn't solve the problem of making the reader load a whole bunch of large images before they've decided they want to see them.

To change the next/prev images, go to your Comic Page layout, and look for some code that looks like this:
<a href="{NAV_FIRST}" alt="some text here"><img src="some URL here"></a>
That's the code for your first-page navigation. Somewhere near there will also be similar bits of code with {NAV_PREV}, {NAV_NEXT}, and {NAV_LAST}, for the previous page, next page, and most recent page, respectively. Change the image URLs to the ones you want, and that'll change the images. You don't need to touch the other parts of the code.

If you really want a whole new layout, I recommend coming up with some more concrete ideas on your own, so that whoever you hire doesn't have to spend precious hours making a dozen different versions until they find one you like. If they have a solid idea of what you want, they can get it done faster and cheaper for you.

I know that's how to make the image appear on a page, the problem is I want it only to show up when they click the button for it I just don't know how.

I think the hard coding the menu is what I was attempting to do I just don't know what hard coding is or how to do it. Frankly, all of my issues come from the fact I know next to nothing about how coding works X'D I could attempt things, but if I don't know what I'm looking for I won't know how to do it properly.

I might do that, I'll try to figure out how I want my page to look, I have an idea in mind based on what I've seen from other comics, I just need to solidify it a bit more though as far as button placements and design I don't really know/care. Do you know anyone that could help me?
