Cute Template Help?

Postby raven09va » May 24th, 2009, 5:01 pm

I Have a little Template design I made using GIMP:
http://i674.photobucket.com/albums/vv10 ... late-1.jpg

I was wondering if someone could make this into a template for me. I am unsure on how to do that so...

The font should be normal (anything would be nice) neat, not too big not too small :D readable.

At the bottom i wish there be words in that box if thats possible, it doesnt have to happen but only if it is possible :D

I would like my site to look similair to this design (using my template picture thing):
http://kingmecomic.smackjeeves.com/
Where the menu is on the right side, I am not worried about the Affiliates. The words must be clickable (of course). but i am unsure on how to do any of that D:

Here is my comic site right now:
http://summerbreak.smackjeeves.com/

Here is the backround:

Here are the comic buttons and those icons inside the pages:

News:

Last:

Comic Archive:

If there is any needed information or additions, just tell me and i will give them to you :D

Thanks for reading! I would much appreciate if it was made for me ><;

I think I can give this a try. I'll start tomorrow, okay? :)

(Will PM you once I start, in case you don't get to read this first.)

You're welcome! Sorry, I didn't start the day I was meant to. However, I'm starting right now.

I have a question: would you like the site's content to be at the center of the page like in the KingMe website? Or on the left?

Okay! I've done a good amount of work on this already, and your template should be ready between today in the evening or sometime tomorrow (Sunday). :)

Of course, I'll show you what I have before sending you the code, so we can make sure the layout and everything looks the way you want it. :) I'm gonna try to go a bit beyond what you requested if I have the time, if you would like me to code a special gallery page. I noticed you have a gallery section.

If there are any other specifications, or graphics you would like me to use in the layout, let me know. Otherwise, I can create some new graphics if it's necessary, like for bullets and things like that, to make the site look prettier and more original. :D

Ok! Then I'll work on that after the layout's finished.

http://arwymlayouts.smackjeeves.com/ <-- This is still a work-in-progress, but I wanted to give you the chance to see what I'm working on.

Note: some areas are still being worked on, like the comics page, and the news and comic archives. I'm currently formatting the home page. Then I'll work on the comments. And then the rest. When I'm done with the overall layout, I'll work on some extra graphics to add flavour to the design, like custom bullets and things like that. Probably just a couple of things.

Say, what font did you use for the button graphics and the text in the header? I don't recognize it and I'd like to know, so that I can make more graphics with that same font if necessary.

How are you liking it so far? I know it's not finished, but you can already see where it's going. I tried to make some things different from King Me!'s layout, by the way. I think it is wiser not to follow their design so faithfully.

Okay! Working on the comic archive now. Trying to decide how it's going to look. After that, I'll work on some graphics, and finally on the gallery page. And that would be it, unless you want something else. :)

Okay! I'm glad you like it!

I'm going to make some final revisions, the gallery page, and send it to you, with instructions and all. Formatting your custom pages will be very simple. You'd just have to wrap the title/name of every sub-section on a page with <h3> tags, and every paragraph with <p> tags. That way, everything will look consistent and organized. You don't even need to write the page's name again. It's done by default.

If you ever need help with HTML and CSS, feel free to PM me or post a new topic in the template support board. I'll be around, and so will others. You probably know that already, but just in case. XD Hm... What else... Ah! I want to share with you my favorite HTML/CSS/Web Development reference sites. In an emergency, these could help you find the solutions to problems you encounter:

http://w3schools.com <-- HIGHLY recommended

http://htmlhelp.com <-- Excellent articles. Some are for intermediate or advanced levels, but reading them will give you a better understanding of how many of these things work, and of how to take advantage and make your pages more accessible. And they are easy to understand.

http://www.tizag.com/ <-- Not my favorite, but this one's still often helpful. It has many good tutorials.

I'll probably have this ready in the evening. See you then!

A day late, but here's the gallery template:

http://arwymlayouts.smackjeeves.com/gallery/

Your gallery could look like that, if you like. Put your mouse over the "show" text that appears below every image and you'll see a nice trick. :D

It's like a lightbox script, but with just CSS. If you like it, then I'm ready to send the layout. I'll give you the instructions to use the gallery, too.

So what do you think? :)

Okay! I'm glad. :D

I've already sent the template. Now I need to write the instructions for the gallery.

Say, think you can apply the changes to the gallery all by yourself? Or would you rather I do that myself and then teach you how to add new images?
