could anyone please make/code a template for me?

Postby Guest » June 13th, 2009, 8:59 am

so, i have tried over the past few days to make a new template for my webcomic, The End. and i just don't get it.
I used Ran's photoshop template tutorial and did everything i was supposed to do.... but my website looked something like that afterwards.
THAT-->Image
it actually should look something more like this.
THIS -->Image
the code i used on the 'overall layout' was
Code: Select all
<html>
<head>

<title>The End</title>

<style type="text/css">
    @import url (http://www.smackjeeves.com/templates/default/style.css);
</style>
</head>

<body bgcolor="#333366" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0">
<!-- ImageReady Slices (template2.psd) -->
<table id="Table_01" width="1263" height="908" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">
   <tr>
      <td colspan="9">
         <img src="http://i565.photobucket.com/albums/ss92/funkymonkeyelia/BANNER-1.gif" width="1263" height="203" alt=""></td>
   </tr>
   <tr>
      <td>
         <a href="http://the-end-has-come.smackjeeves.com/">
            <img src="http://i565.photobucket.com/albums/ss92/funkymonkeyelia/HOME-1.gif" width="128" height="38" border="0" alt=""></a></td>

                                <div align="center">{CONTENT}</td>
   </tr>
   <tr>
      <td colspan="9">
         <img src="http://i565.photobucket.com/albums/ss92/funkymonkeyelia/BOTTOM-1.gif" width="1263" height="96" alt=""></td>
   </tr>
</table>
<!-- End ImageReady Slices -->
</body>
</html>

now, i don't know what i did wrong. i'm sure it was in the coding, because i understood the photoshop bit completely.
i don't know if it needs to be completely recoded, or if there's just a few glitches in the coding that need to be fixed.
i'd really appreciate it if someone helped me solve this problem.
:oops:

EDIT:if anyone is willing to help, i can send the photoshop image to you, maybe it'll help...

Here you go, this should work, stick this in your Overall Layout:

Code: Select all
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">

<html>
<head>

<title>The End</title>

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1256">

<style type="text/css">
    @import url (http://www.smackjeeves.com/templates/default/style.css);
</style>
</head>

<body bgcolor="#333366" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0">
<!-- ImageReady Slices (template2.psd) -->
<table id="Table_01" width="1263" height="908" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">
   <tr>
      <td colspan="9">
         <img src="http://i565.photobucket.com/albums/ss92/funkymonkeyelia/BANNER-1.gif" width="1263" height="203" alt=""></td>
   </tr>
   <tr>
      <td>
         <a href="http://the-end-has-come.smackjeeves.com/">
            <img src="http://i565.photobucket.com/albums/ss92/funkymonkeyelia/HOME-1.gif" width="128" height="38" border="0" alt=""></a></td>
      <td>
         <a href="http://the-end-has-come.smackjeeves.com/comics/499851/0-0-we-all-scream/">
            <img src="http://i565.photobucket.com/albums/ss92/funkymonkeyelia/FIRST-1.gif" width="113" height="38" border="0" alt=""></a></td>
      <td>
         <a href="http://the-end-has-come.smackjeeves.com/comics/">
            <img src="http://i565.photobucket.com/albums/ss92/funkymonkeyelia/LAST-1.gif" width="108" height="38" border="0" alt=""></a></td>

      <td>

            <img src="http://i565.photobucket.com/albums/ss92/funkymonkeyelia/SMACKJEEVES.gif" width="226" height="38" border="0" alt=""></a></td>
      <td>

   </tr>
   <tr>
      <td colspan="9" background= "http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/5492/contentc.gif" width="1263" height="100%" alt="">
                                <div align="center">{CONTENT}</div></td>
   </tr>
   <tr>
      <td colspan="9">
         <img src="http://i565.photobucket.com/albums/ss92/funkymonkeyelia/BOTTOM-1.gif" width="1263" height="96" alt=""></td>
   </tr>
</table>
<!-- End ImageReady Slices -->
</body>
</html>

The only thing that seems to be wrong with it is the actual content background. It's probably something stupid I've overlooked. Anyway I'll get back to you on that, and tell me if you have any other problems.

Edit: Ah I see what it was. The content image had a small border at the top and bottom. Anyway the fixed code is provided.
