You are awesome.

It's great to see people pitching in around here, hopefully in time more people will get involved.

Thanks. ^_^;

It's true, more people would be good, because there are many requests to be filled. I think I'll try giving priority to those requests who have been waiting the longest for now. o_o

I hate to drop this on people, and I'm sorry to those that have volunteered but I am done coding templates. I'm glad we found some new coders, and that was really all I was waiting for. I wanted to drop this when I quit as moderator but couldn't just leave you guys, but I see you are in good hands, and so I'm stopping development. I no longer have the time to pour my heart and soul into coding for Smackjeeves, and I don't want to give people bad templates or help as a result.

AnimeSouth: I will still finish your template because it is halfway done.

It's all cool, yo. Don't be so jumpy, lol.

Just an extra note. Unfortunately, it's not possible to make the layouts in SJ 100% valid as XHTML documents. Less as HTML ones, because some code that the system itself generates, like in the news posts, is output as XHTML. And on top of that, there's a bit of Javascript output by the system at the bottom of the document, AFTER the <body> and <html> closing tags. But, since the point of all this validation and following the standards thing is accessibility, we should just strive for making the sites as accessible as possible and educating the users so that they follow these recommendations the best they can, too, by avoiding bad HTML practices.

And, it seems I'm currently the only one designing layouts at this moment. :0

Thank you for all the help, Pyroman! I saw your works and you're good. And actually, much better in the graphics department than me, I believe. I hope I can continue providing layouts of such quality. ^^;

It must have been hard having to do most of the requests, Pyro. D:
I personally (at the moment) don't do any requests(though, I still make some for webcomics that I read), so I can't help out Arwym now....

Arwym, please do not take this as an obligation for you to do all the requests. That is not my goal, and should not be yours either.
I am leaving for two reasons, one personal, and the other because I do not have the time to commit to this anymore. No one has to do these requests, it is the not the job of any user and I should not expect anyone to see it as such. I took it upon myself, through no expectation, and now I must step down.

Again, I just want to reiterate that this is not a job for anyone. As I step down, no one should feel like they have to take my place.

I've had a lot of fun, and learnt a lot of things doing these requests, and it saddens me a little I have to stop.

Oh and Arwym, if you user the w3c Validator, then on the homepage you should shoot for 6 errors only. Those 6 errors are caused by the out of HTML JS, and you cannot fix them, so as long as you have 6 errors, your code is clean. Though yes you will have to fix a few tags, mostly <img src>'s not having alt tags or ending slashes. On the Comics Page you can't really do the same because the JS on that page will cause mountains of errors. This is because it should really be hosted elsewhere, and on top of that I'm sure there are mistakes in it as well.

Wow, I hate to hear your leaving. You've been like a legend around here. Sucks dude. But, none the less. I wish you the best of luck in any and all of your future. I'm glad to have "met" you.

PS: Thanks for finishing it, It'll be an honor to have your last template for SJ (maybe, hopefully, one day it won't be, but for the sake of this message I'll say it is.)

I guess that should be 6 errors only because of the Javascript at the bottom of the document, right? Because the news posts generate their own code which is a total mess, lol, so it could be more than 6 errors I cannot fix, depending on the news posts. In the other Javascript scripts around the site, there are indeed errors that are hard for me to get rid of without messing up, so I won't touch them, at least until I get better at JS. XD Luckily, though, things like the HTMLTOOLTIP script in the comic archive are not essential, so they can be removed entirely.

By the way, don't worry! As long as I can continue doing this, I will. Of course that, when the new semester starts, I'll have much less time, so I'm trying to complete as many requests as possible right now. Just like you, I'm learning a lot as I do this. And it's great, because there's a lot I can learn (in fact, we'll never stop learning); since I plan to pursue my career in the web industry.

To requesters: I'm going to attend the requests in the order they were posted, so those who posted in May and June will go first. I'm currently with Freekdemon. I might have to start a new thread later to explain some details about how I work, among other general things. We'll see. Thanks for waiting!

Hopefully I understood right, but I don't just mean 6 errors from the JS. On every template I have handed out, the homepage has six errors in total. The news code, while a bit cluttered and I'm sure filled with some code that shouldn't be used, should not cause any errors at all. The six errors are, as you say, caused by the JS appearing outside the HTML; something we cannot change.

Anyway, I can't thank you enough for continuing this work, and I wish you good luck with all the templates. If you have any trouble, feel free to email or PM about it (although I suspect my coding skills are worse than your's anyway) and I will do my best to provide help.

It's true. :) I revised an old layout and, with a Transitional doc type, I managed to get only 6 errors in all pages except the comics page. With Strict, it's 8 errors. But, that's enough.

Thanks to you, Pyroman. Good luck with your projects. :)

Well, it's really just a matter of placing variables and loops/conditions in the right places and with the right logic. Like making templates for other platforms, such as Wordpress, or whatever comes to mind. Yeah, you just need to try it once and you're good to go. But take your time. ^^;

I'll probably get started on learning it once I build ~10 objects for my library.

If I can make it that far before I sputter out.
