The result means that if you're trying to get out of the house and still want to get stuff done, your options are very slim.

What about a home-brew?

I like homebrew, but I was talking more along the lines of wanting more places in public where I can go out and work. I get too restless if I'm cooped up at home too long.

On-topic: I bought new copic markers. Send help. I've got the traditional art bug again!

I'm worried that this year and the next are just gonna be more years of not having a comic on this site. Why is it that I can't stick to an idea, turn it into a comic and never lose motivation/find myself unable to devote time to work on it? I wonder how you guys are able to balance work/school and comics so well.
Just some kid who likes to draw and sprite. Thinking of starting a comic and actually sticking with it.

Who says we are? A lot of us struggle to pay the bills and/or to update consistently, or worse, struggle with mental issues as a result of the stress of trying to balance all that work.

Motivation's tough. Ideally, a story should resonate with you enough that the motivation doesn't fade, or fades very slowly. That doesn't always happen, and often the trick is to turn the writing and drawing process into a habit before the initial motivation runs out. You don't need motivation so much when it's just a thing you're going to do anyway. You can also find new motivation along the way, sometimes the entire reason you do a comic can change partway through. You have to be open to that, though - if you're too focused on doing a story for one specific reason, it's easy to lose interest in that reason and not have anything to fill the motivation void. It helps if you choose a project that you love for many different reasons, both in the story and in the meta aspects (e.g. getting to draw stuff you enjoy drawing, or writing things you want to get better at writing).

Honestly it's not so much motivation at this point as it is just plain ol' discipline. I made it into a habit that, when work days for the comic comes up, I feel really weird not having it done. It's become part of my routine week after week, month after month. And that helps A LOT, especially when I'm distracted by other newer and shinier ideas. But eishiya's not wrong either; what also helps is that this particular story of mine is near and dear to my heart, so it's one I want to work on even when I'm preoccupied with the obsession du jour.

Once you have that idea though, it's a LOT easier to work when you sort of break it down into bite-sized processes. Get the script/storyline done FIRST and make sure it's a story/script you like and believe in. That's the hardest obstacle to overcome, but when you do have it where you need it to be, the art and everything else just comes along without much hassle. It's also at this point you'll know whether or not this is something you want to work on long time. Sometimes an idea seems so good at the time but when you really work on it, you fall out of love just as quickly.

Keep it up and don't lose hope! ^w^ All successful creators burned through hundreds of ideas before landing on the one that got them to where they are!

Today I came back from work and got 2 hours before the missus would get home. I figured that's the perfect time for drawing, but I was too tired. So I thought, hey, I WILL spend this time productively! I was going to lie on the sofa with my laptop and write a script. Next thing you know, I'm taking a nap and watching YT videos afterwards.

Yeah, I find it harder to devote my time to drawing as I get older. It's a shame because it is really cathartic and rewarding if I can apply myself to it. It was easier in college, I had fewer hobbies and schoolwork was a breeze so I had plenty of free time.

Why are all earbuds besides Apple's apparently that weird long shape that never stays in my ear? Why are the only round ones I can find Apple knock-offs? I'm a headphones girl but I need something more portable and I have no idea how people keep those long ones in their ear for more than half a minute.

You might be putting them in the wrong way. The cord goes over your ear and the long bit should fit snugly in the dip where your ear grows out of your head (the exact angle depends on the shape of your ear). That way they fit more comfortable and don't fall out so easily. Illustration.

Hahahaha ha I have been wearing them wrong this whole time?? Thanks Apple.
I have never seen anyone wear them like this though, doesn't look aesthetically appealing, I think I'll stick to headphones.

I hate most ear buds these days. I'm one of those unfortunate souls with weird ears, and the modern trend of shapes never feel comfortable. Only ones that have always been comfortable for me are Apple's ear buds, anything else just never works. Too loose, too tight, that weird soft rubber shit, the half assed over the ear ones, nothing else works for me anymore.
