It is surreal to be alone in a dimly lit warehouse at 4:30 AM with only the faint hum of orange lamps and the steady muffled rain. All around loom the shadowy tortured forms of machinery draped in plastic. Robots, pumps, and motors that once screamed with the sounds of production now gather dust in sprawling silent rows. The living factory I knew is presented as static slices, a musty museum of the only world I live in anymore.

Sounds comfy.

Seriously thinking about joining the police. It's kind of a 90 degree turn from what I'm doing right now, and part of me worries that it'll mean I wasted the last few years doing my MA (which is nearly over, woo!).

But at the same time, I can't stop thinking about it. Everything in my life makes me want to go for it and at least see if I can get through selection. Wanting to see if I'm good enough, wanting to show that people with autism can be police officers, wanting to do something about all the crap going on in London these days, wanting to serve my country in some capacity, wanting to help people, wanting to make policing better for people with hidden disabilities, wanting a job that'll get me out of my parent's house.

If I do, I reckon it'll be via PoliceNow, which is this programme to encourage graduates into policing. Applications begin in August, and honestly I'm half-terrified, and half can't wait to put my name down. I'm actually glad I've kept myself anon on here, because I don't want my current employer knowing until I've got a conditional placement (which is when PN will ask for references). They have done a lot for me over the last decade, so I don't want them getting upset when I wouldn't even be starting till July 2020. If I do get it, I'm gonna offer to help train my replacement (the work I do is somewhat specialised).

Am I crazy?

Thanks, I really do want to. Just over three months till I can apply. I'm almost tempted to skip PoliceNow and go through the mainstream application process, but PN has a lot to offer, and I know I'll have time to finish my Master's if I wait.

Daaaamn! I was curious what Ninjies is up to lately, and she's a background painter now. She actually worked on season 3 of Rick and Morty.

Aaahhh, go for it, and best of luck!!

I'm almost jelly but I can't be a police officer for multiple reasons. But I totally get the urge.

Thanks a lot ^_^ If I do make it through, I'll have to change my avatar to one of your characters ;)

I've actually been wondering if you had some experience with the police, considering how portray them in Cop Story. It almost feels like you have insider knowledge xD

Alas, only writing research fuelled by wishful thinking. :P I do try to get my hands on police textbooks and such when possible.

It was all fun and games till Tragedy and Heartbreak fell in love.

Lopt is the actual name of Loki, making the Lopt god in that one anime...Loki, technically.

Loki had a weapon more powerful than anything in the nine realms, made from the roots of Ygrasil. I wonder what would happen if someone used it...

I wish I was a troll, the old Nordic version. IE, magic using human trained by Jotunn.

Grateful my husband has access to medical journals so I can research about 1/3rd of what I want to include in my comic.

The other 2 thirds being mostly historical facts, dumb romance goop and occasionally character development/plot

You can always tell your in South Georgia when you see signs for boiled peanuts everywhere and the roads are smeared with dead armadillos.

I keep getting a Deceptive Site Ahead message from Chrome when trying to visit the Gamertag thread. Is this normal?
