Folks along the northern Rocky Mountain Front! I will be at MisCon in Missoula, Montana this weekend, Friday to Monday! Just look for the guy that's dressed up as Spike Speigel.

Anybody near Norfolk, Virginia? I'll be here until Saturday, possibly Sunday.

Yes, but I'm nocturnal and boring. I tried to think of Tidewater's best kept secret to recommend to visitors but all I could come up with is the reclaimed landfill park: Mount Trashmore. That and the beach at Sandbridge. What do you enjoy? Crashing Atlantic waves on the wide, sunny beaches? The Fish Museum/Marine Science Aquarium whatever it's called now? A busy city center in downtown Norfolk, complete with buses, ferries, and a train that was part of my daily commute for years? Perhaps you'd enjoy the kitschy pastel-colored shops selling candy and novelties within earshot of the surf up and down Atlantic Avenue. Or, if nature hikes are more your speed, take in the looming bald cypress trees, rolling forested sand dunes, and mirror-flat black swamps of First Landing State Park. South of here in the rolling farms is the Military Aviation Museum: hangars full of still airworthy vintage aircraft.

This rambling, incoherent post was brought to you by sleep deprivation from a long night shift in the factory. Bed time already?

I'm staying at the Marriott in downtown Norfolk. No car, but I have walked around the little marina off Waterfront Drive, and Prince's Books off E Main. Neat little town, though a little more expensive than I'm used to. If you're interested, I'd love to meet up for either a pint, or lunch! I'll shoot you a PM
