What's a genre exactly? An art style or something along the lines of comedy?

I don't feel like there's a best one like everyone else here, but I do have some favorites. I really like an international art style, or mixed I suppose, and I also really like adventure comedy stuff. Adventure with a pinch of wacky, not the other way around.

Anything strange gets my attention. The Twilight Zone would be a good example. Most sci-fi and fantasy offer great oppertunities for this so I tend to look more at these.

for me, i think it's manga. aside from being a fan of this style since way way back, i think that with this style, the emotions of the characters can be projected well (a bit same with a realistic style) but manga has this "thing" --- cuteness? or something that can't be compared to a realistic way of drawing. not saying that manga style is better than the realistic style though. both have their own charm/good points. it's just that for me, the "manga" style is more attractive.

i just think that in manga you can mix: cuteness + projection of emotions + uniqueness + other elements (fantasy)
(unique since a lot of artists have their own styles of drawing body parts, especially faces)

but i find cartoon-style cute too :3 sometimes, it really depends.

I don't believe there is a "best genre" out there. It all depends on preferences.

Me, I prefer anime/manga but it's not the best. Almost everything is totally out of proportion (and oh god, the shoujo eyes of shiny doom), most characters have the same features except for hair or eyes, a lot of details are too unrealistic and defy gravity, etc-but despite all this, it's still my favorite. Like I said, it's all a matter of preference. So no, I don't think my favorite is the best, and there certainly is no best.

If any story is great, I'd love it. However, I think my personal favorite are psychological (I spelled that right on the first try! Yay!) comics. Take Deathnote. DN is one of the only insanely popular shonen manga that isn't a battle manga. At least not in that sense. Take Doubt, Judge, or Higurashi. Epicness.

I don't, it just happens to be the only one I can draw :D

But seriously--I care more about story than anything else. I don't like most American comics because there's nothing more formulaic than a superhero (especially an angsty one), and too much good manga seems to turn into 'how long can I stretch this out? oh, this long!'

I tend to like manga-style comics better because there's an acceptance of a wide range of visual styles, as well as a wider range of paneling styles. I feel cramped when reading a number of western style comics because the paneling is square and cramped.

I like animated cartoons. So obviously my style is as close to that as you'll get. Therefore it is the best style.

My Style:
Semi-Realism

Why I love it:
It fits the tone of my comic. Fantasy setting with characters that evolve throughout the story based from their experiences and discoveries (just like how people are in real life).

Did I consciously choose this style?
Not really. I used to draw Western Style when I was collecting X-Men comics. Then I got into anime for awhile and drew anime style as well. Later on I took it upon myself to get better at drawing and this got me into studying real human anatomy (still a work in progress). As of this moment, my style is a fusion of all my influences and it just so happened to fit the comic that I am currently working on.

In summary:
I don't look down on any style. The fact that my own style is a combination of several genres is a testament to this.

I like making adventure stories... It's also the genre I enjoy the most to read.

I grew up on Sunday morning comics where you basically gave a minute of your time to read and smile a little. I'm not sure I'd say it's the 'best' genre since that's all so subjective, but I'm content in doing something that might make people laugh when they visit. :)

I don't think it's the overall best, but i think it's what i do best.
On the art front, i guess i can actually do better but at cost of a lot more time of work. The style i'm using proves to be a good compromise: i consider it pleasant looking and i can manage to update weekly.

On the story, i guess it's my RPG influences weighting a lot: I like creating characters, giving them a personality and see them grow. Therefore an ongoing story that strongly focuses on the protagonists is what comes more natural to me.
I once tried making a gag-a-day type of comic... epic fail.

Comedy is pretty much the most awesome thing ever, and it's helped me through a lot of problems in my life.

Everything is always worse when it starts raining. :U

'Cuz my Genre has menz makin' out. 8-)

As far as reading goes I'm a Comic enthusiast. Meaning I'll read any Western, Manga, Webcomic from pretty much any genre (except pornz or GL) with out any bias just as long as it catches my interest and keeps it there till the end. (and because of that I have TOO many series I'm trying to keep up with XD )
