Darkman?

Correct. Didn't expect anyone to remember that one.

A girl gets a hairstyle that she hates but everyone else loves. Her school also gets a rather strange new pet. Two of them even. The pets run off into the woods together. (Apparently they also taste delicious, but the movie doesn't mention that.)

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods

(I actually never seen the film but I'm watching the new Dragon Ball Super so...)

Here's one:

A young monarch leaves the safety of his home to help a village girl save her enslaved parents. There is also a singing monkey.

Gah, these both sound so familiar it's driving me nuts. Is Randumbz's Weird Science?

I have another bonanza with one element that connects them all. Solve that hint, and you'll have an easier time solving the clues. And they're a bit of a mix of old and new this time, so maybe somebody will actually guess them.
1) Hero goes on a trip to the caribbean to have a word with a very disagreeable physician.
2) A phony aristocrat finds himself surrounded by beautiful, cultured women.
3) A saintly gent gets his hands on a lot more tail than usual.
4) Angry best man doesn't like how his buddies are doing their job, so he quits and goes freelance. Ends up having a real gas.
5) This guy has to break something in outer space. Again. With a much less qualified female sidekick.
6) Our hero proves the age-old saying that you can never go home again. Because some asshole will blow it up.

Then Randumbz stumped me.

I am -SO- bad at this game. looking at like 95% of the descriptions and seriously ending up blank. I think I have to start watching more movies.

Since I can't really guess any of the ones listed above I'll just throw one of my own out there; "Awkward moment at the dinner-table in outer-space turns into a life or death situation."

Alien. Outer space gave it away.
