Hello again, SJers! We've had a lot of nominations going on in the Awards threads in this forum, but there's still time if you haven't made your nominations yet!

The nomination threads will be closing tomorrow night at midnight, Eastern Standard Time.

Thanks to all those who've already nominated!

It's been a great few weeks, and now it's time for us to count up those nominations and present your nominees! Over the next few months we'll be contacting the nominated creators and building the voting site.

Thanks again for all of your participation!

Yours truly and forever,
Smackie

We experienced a bit of a setback, but are working on contacting the nominees now. More information will be forthcoming :)

Most of you can ignore this message.

Hey judges, check out the topic I made over on the Awoard Board and let me know what you think!

What's the good word on the smackie awards? (rhyme?) just curious since things have been quiet and this process honestly fascinates me lol

Right now we are still contacting the nominees, and then going to have a Pow-Wow to just sift through the nominations one last time to make sure everyone's where they belong and so forth.

Awesome! Btw I'm just wondering, but are there going to be any other surprise categories like some of the really out there ones we had last year? (Banner of the year, most misleading, etc) or is it just sticking to the more focused ones we all listed nominees for?

Out of curiosity, are you guys going to showcase the judges' comics somewhere? Since they can't be in the awards, I think they should get their own page early on as a "Hey, these guys put in a lot of work to make this, check out their stuff if you're interested" kind of thing. Sure it's self-advertising but it's well worth it in my opinion. I'm sure you're all working hard so one or two pages showcasing a bit of your hard work is well deserved.

We were considering it, and I'm in favor of it, but some people are worried that readers will think it's unfair for the same reasons that having judges be eligible as nominees was unfair.

I appreciate your pro-vote though :) We'll have to see once everything's further under way. Parts of the process took a little longer than expected so we're a little behind on the original schedule.

Man I would love to hear from the people who said that was unfair. It just sounds like a rather messed up argument to me.

I don't see why the judges shouldn't be listed. That's a lot different than having the judges own comics in the running - in fact I think it would actually be more fair since everybody would then know who did the judging?
